The Deck department is overseen by the Captain and is responsible for navigating the ship as well as managing all safety-related matters, including environment and public health. This team works closely with the Technical department to ensure that all equipment is well maintained and meets international laws and regulations. The Deck Department includes a variety of positions that range from entry-level roles, such as Deck Clerk and Cadets to highly qualified seafarer roles, such as Environmental Officer, Security Officers, and Navigating Officers all the way through to the ship’s Captain.

Senior Watchkeepers are responsible for safe navigation of the ship, maintaining a 24-hour watch by working a four-hours-on/eight-hours-off rotation.
